Description
Designed by D. D’Urbino and P. Lomazzi
Galax forms part of the Casati collection and was created by Italian designers D. D’Urbino and P. Lomazzi. Recognised for combining technical innovation with elegant design, they conceived Galax around the idea of transformation: a dining table capable of adapting to different occasions while preserving its sculptural identity.
Its distinctive extension mechanism reflects this philosophy, allowing the table to change size smoothly while maintaining balanced proportions and visual harmony. Whether specified in glass or ceramic finishes, Galax embodies a vision of furniture where engineering, functionality and refined Italian aesthetics work together.
A ceramic expression of the Galax dining table
Galax Ceramic by NAOS transforms the technical elegance of the Galax family into a dining table with a more substantial and tactile surface presence. The design keeps the model’s distinctive relationship between top, base and movement, while the ceramic finish adds mineral depth, visual structure and a refined sense of permanence.
Rather than presenting the table primarily through transparency and lightness, this version focuses on the character of ceramic: its composed surface, its resistance in daily use and its ability to bring a more architectural mood to contemporary dining rooms.
Italian engineering with a stronger material presence
The extendable versions use a synchronized mechanism designed for smooth lateral opening and central extension lifting. This allows the table to adapt to larger gatherings while preserving the precise geometry that defines the Galax silhouette.
The ceramic top gives the mechanism and metal structure a more grounded visual counterpoint. The result is a dining table that feels both technical and decorative, suitable for private residences, formal dining spaces and design-led interiors where the table must have presence without becoming heavy.
The superb deployment mechanism of the Galax table is similar to the one used in the Quasar table you can see in this video:
Ceramic tops and refined surface contrast
In this derived ceramic version, the emphasis is placed on ceramic stone and ceramic marble surfaces. These finishes introduce a richer material vocabulary than a purely glass-led configuration, with subtle visual depth and a more substantial tabletop effect.
Depending on the selected configuration, Galax can combine central and side-top logic to create a balanced relationship between function, extension and finish. The ceramic surfaces are especially appropriate where durability, easy maintenance and a sophisticated mineral appearance are priorities.
Finishes and customisation
The metal components can be specified in Chrome 37 or in Epoxy Colours according to the selected version. Chrome 37 gives the table a brighter technical accent, while Epoxy Colours create a more integrated and architectural appearance.
Additional project options, including remote-control operation or special decorative finishes, may be reviewed separately when the table is specified for a bespoke interior project.
Dimensions
The Galax family includes rectangular and oval extendable configurations as well as fixed rectangular ceramic configurations. The existing Galax dimension structure is reused for this ceramic version, preserving the validated size matrix while giving the page a distinct material focus.
